Rusty's journey in the trade began in 1995 when he joined Painter's Union 159 in Las Vegas, where he learned the fundamentals of precision work and craftsmanship. For a decade, he served as paint foreman at the legendary Mirage Hotel & Casino — a role that demanded exacting standards and the ability to manage complex projects on a grand scale. That experience shaped his philosophy: attention to detail isn't optional, it's essential.

In 2020, Rusty made the move to Springfield, Missouri, and launched Wallpaper Excellence. After 25 years in the trade, he decided to focus on what he loves most — the intricate art of wallcovering installation. His resume includes high-stakes projects like hanging gold-leafed wallcovering worth tens of thousands of dollars during the construction of the Wynn Casino. Whether it's delicate silk, bold European prints, natural grasscloth, or commercial vinyl, he approaches every material with the same respect and precision that earned him those marquee projects. His expertise spans residential homes, designer projects, and commercial installations — rooted in a deep understanding that every wallcovering has its own character. Some show seams. Some pattern shifts are inherent to the material. His job is to showcase that character beautifully, not to hide or apologize for it.

When he's not installing, Rusty enjoys exploring Missouri's natural beauty, spending time with family, and staying connected to the community.
